As a guy who loves math but can't draw worth a lick, lessons like this really appeal to me. By the way, I'm here because I just saw your idea for using colored duct tape. I'm retired now after teaching thirty-one years in elementary school, but that is exactly the kind of lesson I would love to teach because the kids would be so engaged.
