Food Chain Card Game

This fun card game from Teach Beside Me helps students understand the sequence of a food chain. Plant cards remain flipped over, stretched out in a line across the table. Animal cards get shuffled and passed out. Players take turns flipping over a plant card. If they have a match, they start creating a food chain. Then, the next player must have a card that could continue the chain. If not, he / she loses a turn. The Free Choice card represents any animal the player would like. It can be used if the player can state an animal that would work in the food chain created. Whoever completes a chain gets to keep the cards. Then, a new plant card is flipped over. Plants include: nectar, fruit, veggies, grains, etc. The game continues until there are no chains left to make. The player with the most cards wins! Visit Teach Beside Me for a free printable!
