Post-It Math / Art

photo credit: design sponge via David Stark
Back in 2010, designer David Stark had a post-it note fridge challenge. This would be a great activity to teach kids about area / perimeter, as well as fractions. Split kids up into tams and have them map out their design on graph paper. They figure out the area and perimeter, then create oversized wall art with post-it notes. Have them write the fraction for each color post-it they use in their design. They figure out the total number of post-its used, then how many of each color used. Visit Design Sponge for full details.
