yipes! i absolutely LOVE this blog and have used many, many of your idead, but, am not so sure about this one? how could it possibly be good for a snail to be dipped in food coloring? we've put snails (and slugs) in a box wrapped in black construction paper to map their silvery trails. i just wonder about using living creatures in this way and what message that sends.

Believe me, I am a vegan and believe in not harming animals!
DeleteNo snails are harmed and it's completely safe.
This project is harmless, kid fun.
They are not watching the snails suffer.
The snails happily move around the paper, making a trail.
Most importantly, after the activity is done, the snails go back to their natural habitat!!! :D
I think its a great idea for the children. I don't see why food coloring would harm the snails. Its non-toxic, safe to eat, and won't dry them out. I'm sure it is safer than all the stuff they crawl through outside. And what is wrong with showing our children the fantastic and beautiful things that can be created by nature?
